Is everything you use "organic"?
No, while we do use some products with natural and organic ingredients, like Surface Pure Color, not all the products we use are labelled as "natural" or "organic". In order to achieve the results our clients expect, while making sure all products are 100% vegan, we use a variety of products from different companies. Right now, as of 2019, there is no professional vegan color line that is 100% natural or organic. Many salons claim to be vegan because their organic color line is certified cruelty free, we've found these companies still use milk derived ingredients, silk, honey, beeswax, and animal derived keratin in their products. In the future we hope technology improves and were able to use 100% natural and organic products, that are also vegan, to achieve the quality and performance today's clients expect when receiving a color service. If you're interested in learning more about organic hair color, we always suggest you do your own research, this article could be a good place to start.
Is your salon LGBTQ+ friendly?
Some of us here at Wild Heart identify with some of those letters. We don't judge who you sleep with or what you have in your pants. You're welcome here.
Do you use Pulp Riot? "I heard it's not vegan anymore."
Yes, for clients with resistant gray and some vivid colors, we do use Pulp Riot. Pulp Riot started out as an independently owned vegan and cruelty free company which was then purchased by L'oreal. Pulp Riot has promised it still maintains it's values, does not use animal derived ingredients, and does not test on animals. Some people feel this acquisition by L'oreal makes Pulp Riot no longer vegan. In the past few years Daiya was purchased by a Japanese pharmaceutical company, Tyson Foods invested in Beyond Meat, Miyoko's joined the TERRA Food & Agriculture Accelerator program, in which they are mentored by Nestle, these are just a few examples. All these products are still considered vegan. These vegan companies are partnering with mainstream companies so the vegan movement can grow, and veganism can become the mainstream. By supporting these vegan companies we are showing the larger companies that there is a demand, and veganism is only growing. We can use our voices to hopefully, one day, make veganism the status quo everywhere.
Are children allowed in the salon? Do you do kids hair?
We kindly ask you do not bring children under 10 to the salon unless they are receiving a service. It can be very dangerous to have an unoccupied child in the salon, between the products used to color hair, sharp implements, hot tools, etc. We do provide services to children of our adult clientele, on a case by case basis depending on the child's maturity and willingness to receive the service. If you have any questions about these policies, please feel free to ask.
Do you have to be vegan to get your hair done at Wild Heart?
Absolutely not. We understand everyone is in their own place on their own journey. We're not here to dictate what other people do, we created Wild Heart so we could do what we love and feel good about it.
What product lines do you use?
We love to stay up to date with the newest trends and technology so our product list is ever changing and ever growing. For styling and retail we use our favorite line, Saints & Sinners. For color we currently use Surface, Trionics, Arctic Fox, Iroiro, Manic Panic Professional, & Pulp Riot.
Do you have a cancellation or late policy?
Yes, we kindly request AT LEAST 24 hours notice for any cancellation. Please text your stylist directly or call the salon in the event you need to cancel. If less than 24 hours notice of a cancellation is given, a 50% deposit will be required to book your next appointment. This deposit will go towards the total of your appointment. If that appointment is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, the deposit is forfeited. If you make an appointment and do not show up and do not give any notice, you will not be able to make any further appointments. We understand life happens, enough notice gives us the ability to try and fill your appointment. When a client no shows or cancels last minute, our stylists are not able to fill that appointment. If you are more than 15 minutes late to your appointment, we may or may not have to reschedule. We thank you for understanding and if you have any questions at all, we’d be happy to answer them.
